Another AMCHAM Corporate Social Responsibility Award for Capital & Credit

The Capital & Credit Financial Group has been awarded the top prize for Corporate Social Responsibility in the Small Company Category at the recently held AMCHAM Jamaica Business & Civic Leadership Awards Gala. The elegant awards gala was held at the Jamaica Pegasus on September 26, 2011 and marked the Organisation’s second staging of this event that seeks to celebrate Civic Leadership, as well as leadership in the areas of Arts & Culture and Corporate Social Responsibility.

Deputy Group President and CEO of Capital & Credit Merchant Bank, Curtis Martin and Senior Vice President, Group Marketing & Corporate Affairs, Michelle Wilson-Reynolds proudly accepted the Award on the Company’s behalf.

Since opening its doors in 1994, Capital & Credit has remained committed to its role as a true corporate citizen through its philanthropic focus on the main areas of Health, Education, Children’s Welfare, Sports and Cultural Heritage.

In a message to the management and staff, Chairman, Ryland T. Campbell offered heartiest congratulations, “to all who have served in various capacities of service under our several programmes of corporate social responsibility”. He also used the opportunity to add some words of encouragement, reiterating that “We have a corporate and personal duty to be of service to humanity.”

Last year, at the inaugural Awards Gala, Capital & Credit was placed third in the Corporate Social Responsibility category. The Organisation has made an impact through its initiatives and projects including its Pickney Love at Christmas concert for the benefit of the abandoned children at Dare to Care who are living with HIV/AIDS; its annual donations through the United Way of Jamaica for which the Organisation has received a number of Platinum Awards; its Scholarship Programme, which has benefitted over 100 students to attain Secondary and Tertiary Level education; several contributions to national and international disaster relief programmes and the Staff ‘s participation in Labour Day projects and other community initiatives.

Chairman, Ryland T. Campbell, also noted that “it has not only been our business achievements that have allowed Capital & Credit to etch an indelible mark on the social, financial and national fabric of Jamaica.” “The Capital & Credit Financial Group remains steadfastly committed to promoting a better, more caring society and enriching the lives of less fortunate Jamaicans through its contributions to critical areas of national development”, he added.
