Outstanding Leadership Needed Now – Capital & Credit Financial Group Charts the Way
Jamaicans from all walks of life are being challenged by The Right Reverend Dr. Robert Thompson, Bishop of Kingston, to live up to the expectations of great leadership.
Bishop Thompson was delivering the sermon at the Commemorative Church Service to mark the 15th Anniversary of the Capital & Credit Financial Group (CCFG), which was held last Sunday, February 1, at the Garrison Church of Ascension, Up Park Camp in Kingston.
He challenged the large congregation of Customers, Directors, Staff and general well-wishers to practise the qualities and values of leadership, communication, commitment and principled living.
Bishop Thompson also challenged the congregation to make love the common language of every organisation to which they are associated. The language of love, Bishop Thompson noted, should filter down in the organisation beginning with managers and supervisors.
He commended Capital & Credit, for not only achieving 15 years of successful business, but also for its outstanding track record of corporate outreach, particularly through its scholarship programme which has benefitted needy children since 1999, such as those in Majesty Gardens since 1999; a community to which the Anglican Church is affiliated.
Scores of persons from the private and public sector organisations, business associates, friends, family, Directors and employees of the Capital & Credit Group came out to celebrate the milestone achievement.
Among the special guests in attendance were; Minister of Agriculture and Land Dr. Christopher Tufton, wife of the Commissioner of Police, Mrs. Tessa Lewin, Professor Emeritus at the University of the West Indies, the Hon. Edwin Jones OJ. and Mrs. Maria Jones, Managing Director of the National Housing Trust, Mr. Earl Samuels and Chairman of Geon Group of Companies, Mr. Reynold Scott and his wife Mrs. Marcia Scott.
In extending gratitude to everyone sharing in the occasion, Group President & Chief Executive Officer, Ryland T. Campbell C.D. who cofounded the Group in 1994 along with Deputy Group President, Andrew B. Cocking, underscored that the Company started on the periphery of the local financial crisis in the mid 1990’s. “We are now celebrating our 15th anniversary in the middle of a global financial crisis but we are no stranger to financial crises,” he said.
Mr. Campbell stated his organisation’s commitment to “continue to do what we do best; weather the storm and produce solid performance with integrity,” before making a special contribution of $30, 000, to the Garrison Church Roofing Fund.
Capital & Credit’s ‘Capital Chorale’ rendered the musical item ”Lean on Me” which not only inspired many but substantiated the Company’s vision.
Guests at the church service were hosted to a brunch immediately following the Church Service.
Capital & Credit has grown significantly since it began in 1994, from an initial asset base of $30 Million to now over $47 Billion in Assets Under Management, which attests to its track record of financial growth and performance. CCFG also boasts over $5 Billion in Shareholders’ Value and has expanded to now five subsidiaries: Capital & Credit Merchant Bank (CCMB), Capital & Credit Securities Ltd. (CCSL), Capital & Credit Remittance Ltd. (CCRL), Capital & Credit Fund Managers Ltd. (CCFM) and Capital & Credit International Inc. (CCII).
