‘Pickney Love at Christmas’ Pays Tribute to D. Joyce Campbell OD

The Capital & Credit Financial Group (CCFG) has donated a one-year scholarship in honour of the late D. Joyce Campbell O.D. for her immeasurable contribution in the organising of the Group’s annual charity concert ‘Pickney Love at Christmas’ and her contribution to the performing arts in Jamaica.
The  D. Joyce Campbell Scholarship is valued at J$112,742.00, and is to be awarded to a final year Student of Dance pursuing the Diploma Programme at the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts for the 2009/2010 academic year.

Chairman, Group President & CEO of CCFG, Mr. Ryland T. Campbell, presented CCFG’s letter of commitment to grant the scholarship to Mr. Burchell Duhaney, Principal of the Edna Manley College, at the 7th annual ‘Pickney Love at Christmas’ concert staged on Tuesday December 9, 2008, at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in Kingston.

Ryland T. Campbell, Chairman and Group President & CEO, Capital & Credit Financial Group (CCFG), presents a commitment letter to the Principal of the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts, Mr. Burchell Duhaney.  The letter represents CCFG’s commitment to granting a scholarship valued at J$112,742.00 to a final year Student of Dance pursuing the Diploma Programme for the 2009/2010 academic year. The scholarship is being offered in memory of the late Joyce Campbell,  Former Performing Arts Director at JCDC, who offered her expertise in the planning and execution of CCFG’s charity concert and signature event, “Pickney Love at Christmas”. The presentation was made at the recently held “Pickney Love at Christmas 7” at the Jamaica Pegasus.

D. Joyce Campbell O.D. was the first Dance Co-coordinator for the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC), established in 1963 and was the Performing Arts Director at the JCDC up until she became ill a few years ago.
Capital & Credit’s ‘Pickney Love at Christmas 7’  paid a special tribute to Joyce Campbell with the first half of the show dedicated to her tireless work since its inception to make ‘Pickney Love at Christmas’ a success. The tribute also featured her magnanimous efforts in shaping Jamaica’s cultural heritage; a national quality that the CCFG has been committed to promote.
